CDC Bookkeeping, one of Saskatchewan’s leading bookkeeping firms, is seeking a Payroll Technician to join their collaborative payroll team in Saskatoon, SK. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with a passion for payroll who thrives in a client-focused environment. The successful candidate will process payroll for over 200 clients across multiple schedules and platforms, while ensuring compliance, accuracy, and excellent client service.
As Payroll Technician, you will play a key role in managing client relationships, delivering high-quality service, and helping clients navigate complex payroll regulations. Primary Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing & Compliance:
- Process and manage payroll for multiple clients on weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules.
- Compile, review, and monitor payroll reports, statements, and summaries.
- Act as the primary contact for assigned clients, resolving payroll-related issues.
- Ensure full compliance with federal and provincial payroll regulations, staying updated on legislative changes.
- Collaborate with fellow Payroll Technicians and Bookkeeping Teams as required.
- Assist bookkeeping teams when needed.
- Report to the Team Lead and maintain effective communication about team performance and workflow management.
Client Management & Reporting:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned clients, providing professional advice and insight.
- Prepare and execute client-specific payroll reports, audit for accuracy, and take corrective action when necessary.
- Set high standards for customer service, ensuring client satisfaction at all times.
- Handle sensitive and confidential payroll data professionally and liaise with external payroll service providers to ensure exceptional service for clients.
System Expertise & Process Improvement:
- Use and manage payroll software including QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Payworks, Wagepoint, Dayforce, and ADP.
- Evaluate payroll processes and recommend/implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience: 3-5 years of payroll processing and administration preferred (will consider strong candidates with relevant education or transferable skills).
- Experience managing payroll for multiple clients is a strong asset.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, Payworks, Wagepoint, Dayforce, ADP and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian federal and provincial payroll regulations.
- Soft Skills: Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving ability, strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong customer service orientation and ability to build client relationships.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Education & Certification: Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is an asset. Education in payroll administration, finance, or accounting is beneficial.
