Description:
Solenis, a global leader in specialty chemicals, is seeking a Payroll Specialist to oversee payroll processing for its US and Canada workforce (1,450 employees). This role ensures operational excellence in payroll, time management, and compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations. The Payroll Specialist will partner with HR, Finance, and IT teams to manage payroll systems and support cross-functional projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer weekly, biweekly, and semi-monthly payroll processing, including wages, deductions, reimbursements, bonuses, commissions, and manual payments.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for payroll, tax, and time management issues.
- Process and reconcile employee time and attendance data using Kronos and WorkDay payroll systems.
- Maintain payroll data integrity, ensuring compliance with US and Canadian regulations.
- Assist in developing and implementing payroll system improvements.
- Manage payroll-related tax reports, involuntary deductions (levies, garnishments), and voluntary deductions.
- Document and update payroll procedures, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Serve as primary backup for US Payroll Specialist.
- Administer Canadian benefits in coordination with HR and benefits teams.
- Support HR initiatives, projects, and cross-functional collaborations as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Payroll, Accounting, or HR Administration.
- 5-10 years of payroll experience in US and Canada.
- Expertise in WorkDay Payroll and Kronos Time Management systems.
- Strong knowledge of US and Canadian payroll laws and regulations.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project).
- Ability to analyze and interpret payroll data for compliance and reporting.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and confidentiality management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
