Description:
- Stand-alone payroll position responsible for the full cycle semi-monthly payroll
- Process all payroll changes, adjustments and other payments
- Manage and prepare manual calculations for retroactive payments
- Process new hires and terminations
- Ensure organizational payroll compliance with federal and provincial legislation
- Maintain payroll database
- Ensures third party payment requests and remittances are processed accurately and on a timely basis– CPP, EI, Taxes, EHT, WSIB, garnishments, RRSP/DPSP
- Responsible for hourly year-end T4 payroll requirements, reconciliation of taxable benefits
- Prepare ROEs and various payroll reports
Accounting duties:
- Bank Deposits
- Data entry in various systems and data maintenance
- Assist in year-end balancing and reconciliation
- Filing and record keeping
- Various accounting related tasks, as required
Education and Professional Skills/Knowledge
- Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related field
- Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) designation considered an asset
- 2-3 years of payroll experience required
- Hands on accounting/bookkeeping experience is also preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong MS Office skills including Excel are required
- Working knowledge of payroll/HRIS systems
- Experience with Sage 300 (AccPac) a definite asset
- Ability to adapt quickly to changes and propose solutions as needed.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive employee personnel files, ensuring security, integrity and confidentiality of data, adhering to legal and ethical standards
