Here’s What You’ll Get To Do
- Greet patients and families, and assist in meeting their needs when appropriate
- Float includes working in multiple areas of the hospital: inpatient units, outpatient clinics, the Emergency Department and administrative office duties.
- Responsible for patient booking, registration, admission processes. Ensures related documentation is processed and patients/families and health care team are informed.
- Maintains order of front desk.
- Answer the telephone and respond to requests for information on units.
- Pages staff as needed.
- Ensures chart is available and is completed in a timely manner.
- Facilitates transfer of patients between patient care areas.
- Schedules and coordinates tests, procedures, return/follow-up appointments as necessary. Follows up on and rebooks no-shows and rescheduled clinics as necessary.
- Assist in Pneumatic Tube System monitoring (sending/distributing)
- Acts as a liaison between patient care area and other departments/units across the hospital with regard to patient procedures.
- Ensures documentation faxed to appropriate health care professional and/or agency. Aides with photocopying and scanning needs.
- Responsible for urgent patient bookings as identified by health care team.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments.
- Organize and maintain patient charts, as well as electronic and paper information filing systems.
- Maintain electronic calendar/schedules.
- Coordinate unit administrative functions to ensure efficient operation of the unit, within scope of authority.
- Provide clerical support to all health care staff.
- Identifies issues and needs related to patient flow, administrative processes and technologies and takes the initiative to problem-solve with others.
- Prepare requisitions, referrals, labels, and other documents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
