Patient Engagement

 

Description:

The focus of the work will be to provide leadership and strategic direction in the development and implementation of a patient engagement framework for PHSA. The Director will demonstrate expert advice and problem solving to enhance meaningful patient engagement across all areas and play an integral part in defining, planning, promoting and evaluating the adoption of best and wise practices for patient and family centered care. This role develops collaborative partnerships with other Health Authorities, the Ministry of Health, colleges, universities, and provincial and national communities of practice to ensure PHSA’s alignment with current and future strategic directions, activities and goals. In addition, the Director will supervise staff, develop and manage operating budgets and represent PHSA patient engagement regionally, provincially and nationally.


What you’ll do

  • Lead in the development and implementation of a patient engagement framework, education, policies and strategies to support involvement of patients and families from point of care through planning and delivery that includes their unique insights.
  • Facilitate the engagement of patients and families to participate in service planning, and evaluation of care delivery and coordinate feedback systems for improved care and related initiatives.
  • Ensure that the patient engagement strategy is aligned with the PHSA strategic priorities while building capacity across the organization.
  • Review literature, monitor trends and practices and identify opportunities to promote innovation and exploration of new initiatives and technology in patient engagement.
  • Lead the development, education, implementation and evaluation of best and wise patient and family centred care practices across PHSA.

 

What you bring

 

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in an applicable professional or related discipline and ten to fifteen (10-15) years of progressively increasing leadership responsibility in a complex health care or academic health sciences environment.

 

You will also have:

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of patient engagement and patient/family centered care, best and wise practices and future directions at the provincial and national levels
  • Broad knowledge of quality improvement methodology, accreditation standards, and research processes
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, set and accomplish objectives and goals in a complex, fast paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and build cooperative and consultative partnerships with patients, families and caregivers
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement strategic goals and priorities for a new program facing multiple demands by a variety of stakeholders to ensure the work is directed towards measurable and high impact results
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, interpersonal, decision making and problem solving skills
