Painter

Description:

• Reports directly to the Director of Engineering and to the Assistant Director of Engineering
• All work related to the qualifications required for this position includes both the hotel and residence buildings.
• Must be available to work flexible hours and make scheduling changes according to the needs of the hotel.
• Must be able to work well in an unsupervised environment, and within a team.
• Must be familiar with WHIMIS regulations and adhere to the safety standards of the department.
• Ensuring adherence to all environmental practices within the Hotel and the Food & Beverage Department
• Repair cracks and holes
• Knowledge of mudding and taping.
• Mix paint to desired colour and texture.
• Apply paint, wallpaper and other materials and finishes to interior and/or exterior surfaces.
• Be able to stand, crouch, and kneel for long periods of time.
• Ensure a clean and safe working environment, and actively participate in health and safety initiatives
• Adhere to all hotel environmental policies and initiatives
• Carry out any other tasks as assigned
   

Qualifications
 

• Alberta Painter and Decorator Journeyperson ticket required
• Red Seal Painter and Decorator ticket preferred.
• Journeyperson Painter qualifications preferred.
• Minimum of 6000 Hours
• Must be able to complete drywall repairs, mudding, painting, staining, and wallpaper and stipple work.
• Must have hand tool requirements as listed in the Letter of Agreement B Local 4325A
• Must have a valid class 5 Alberta Operators License
• Must be familiar with the ordering process of the paints
• Must be able to calculate the paint or wall paper required per job
• Self‑motivated, with the ability to make effective decisions
• Demonstrates initiative, and the ability to multitask and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to maintain high service levels under pressure
• Physically fit to lift trays repeatedly, stand and walk for the duration of the shift.
• Ability to consistently stand and walk through out shift
