Overnight Lead Hand
Fresh Start Foods Canada Ltd was founded in 1993 to provide Customers with a fresh alternative. An outstanding supply network, efficient distribution through our three regional locations, and our thoroughly modern processing plant are all part of our commitment to provide the freshest fruits and vegetables as possible. In addition, Fresh Start Foods purchased Eating New Creations in 2015 and as a result we now have added to our portfolio an innovative, top quality, fresh and healthy grab and go line of products that include, but not limited to sandwiches, snack cups, bento boxes, composed and leaf salads, parfaits etc.
We are currently seeking a Full-Time Overnight Lead Hand to join our team based out of our Ottawa, Ontario location.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The overnight lead hand position is responsible for all aspects of the warehouse operation during the overnight shift this includes but is not limited to the following:
- Ensuring all picking labels, manifest, invoices and computer work is properly executed and printed.
- Oversee all aspects of the nightly warehouse operations including order selection, truck loading, receiving inbound products and rotating stock.
- Ensuring the quality of all inbound and outbound products is maintained to company standards
- Be a trainer, mentor, leader and role model for the junior staff and lead by example
- Actively working alongside the order selectors, on the warehouse floor to ensure proper standards are upheld and to monitor work on a real time, ongoing basis.
- Actively assist in the order selection process where needed to ensure trucks are loaded in a timely fashion and cost per case targets are maintained.
- Organize and run nightly shift meetings to pass along important information to all staff members about products, customers and issues to be aware of.
- Be a leader in warehouse safety and ensure all safety rules and regulations are followed
- Ensure proper documentation is being filled out as per our SOPs for our SQF program
- Ensure all food safety policies and procedures are followed on a daily basis by all staff
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:
- HACCP training is an asset
- Ability to lead and motivate team members.
- Valid license for operation of counter-balance forklift (preferred)
- 3 – 5 years of experience operating equipment in a warehouse environment
- Prior experience in a fast paced warehouse is essential
- Prior experience in a multi-temperature environment and perishable products an asset
- Knowledge of produce is an asset
- May be required to work longer than the scheduled work hours
- Has a history of good attendance and adherence to the work schedule
- Valid G License is required
