Key Responsibilities for the OSS Engineer:
- Design, develop, implement and enhance Operational Support Systems to monitor and manage Carrier Ethernet and IP customer services and network resources, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Partner with vendors to find the hottest new OSS solutions and stay ahead of the industry curve.
- Review and approve design and development solution documents, internal and external test strategies, plans and scripts.
- Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of OSS requirements, configurations, processes and procedures.
- Implement real-time network monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve network issues, minimizing downtime.
- Investigate and resolve complex OSS and network problems by collaborating with cross-functional teams to find effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain automated scripts and tolls to streamline network operations and improve efficiency.
- Implement and enforce security best practices to protect network systems and data integrity.
- Analyse network performance data to provide valuable insights for capacity planning and network optimization.
Key Skills & Experience for the OSS Engineer:
- 3-6 years of experience within a similar role.
- Demonstrated knowledge of design principles, and specifications for standardized and interoperable OSS.
- Strong knowledge of network management protocols, including NETCONF/RESTCONF, gNMI, TMForum APIs, MEF LSO APIs, CloudEvents, OpenMetrics, Openflow, ONF TAPI, etc.
- Strong knowledge of MEF Lifecycle Service Orchestration framework.
- User experience with OSS tools and platforms such as Netcracker Digital OSS, ONAP, Ciena Blue Planet, Amdocs, etc.
- Hands on experience with Carrier Ethernet technologies, standards, and protocols.
- Familiarity with TMForum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Process Framework (eTOM) and Information Framework (SID).
- Familiarity with Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) and/or UML.
- This role requires making recommendations and decisions which will influence the network operations and control solution of the network.
