Operations Manager

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manufacturing Operations Manager to oversee our production operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a strong background in manufacturing processes, scheduling, and resource management. Reporting to the VP of Production, the Manufacturing Operations Manager will play a key role in optimizing production efficiency, ensuring quality standards, and fostering a culture of safety and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand while maximizing efficiency and minimizing costs.
  • Supervise and mentor the drafting department, ensuring accurate and timely creation of production drawings and specifications.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop new systems and procedures to enhance productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to source materials and components, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effective sourcing strategies.
  • Oversee health and safety programs and initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the manufacturing facility and head office, providing regular updates on production performance, resource needs, and project status.
  • Manage human resources functions, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to address production challenges, resolve issues, and implement solutions in a timely manner.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and production metrics, analyzing data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence, encouraging employee engagement and participation in problem-solving initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field;
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations management, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Welding, Metal Fabrication and CNC.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiency gains.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing setting.
  • Experience with production planning software, and CAD software is a plus.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic and challenging work environment, with a focus on achieving results and exceeding expectations.
