Description:
Key result areas in this role include:
Participate in all rescue plan signoffs (i.e., Confined Space, etc.).
Conduct monthly/weekly inspections (i.e., fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, refuge station/chamber, escape man ways, etc.)
Report any emergency equipment that requires replacing and document to the Emergency Response Coordinator (ERC), (i.e., eyewash solution, fire extinguisher, first aid kit supplies, etc.).
Ensure diligent record-keeping of all monthly inspections and provide recorded documentation.
Conduct Drug & Alcohol testing as required for new site workers or post incident requirements.
Support training requirements for the ERT members and assist with scheduling.
Proved medical suppoert as required.
Attend huddle meetings.
Assist with security gatehouse duties.
Assist with ERT member recruitment through huddle meeting and provide all information to the EDO for scheduling.
Participate in development of emergency response procedures, SWI, TARP, and WRAC.
Familiarity with surface and underground infrastructure.

About you
As the Emergency Response Officer- ERO, you will need to have a secondary school graduation diploma and a valid Class G driver’s license. A certification in Ontario Basic Underground Common Core, Mill Common Core, and “Train the Trainer” would be an asset and MFR (Medical First Responder) certification. It is also important that you have/ can demonstrate:
Solid computer skills with proficiency using Microsoft PowerPoint software.
Comprehensive knowledge in emergency response protocols.
Capable of designing creative and effective training material.
Very familiar with Occupational Health and Safety Act and mining regulations.
Maintain confidentiality in all company dealings.
Contributes to overall success of emergency response teams.
Strong written and verbal communications skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Competent report-writing and documentation skills.
Effective prioritization abilities.
Capable of effectively managing multiple priorities and emergency situations.
Good decision-making capabilities.
