We currently have an opportunity for you to join the Laurier community as a Office Assistant in the Faculty of Education’s Dean’s Office. As a team member in the Dean’s Office, the incumbent will contribute to the service orientation and efficient operation of the unit, specifically focused on the Bachelor of Education (BEd) and Education Minor (EM) programs and Teaching Option (TO).

Reporting to the Manager, Education Programs the incumbent will provide a wide range of administrative functions. They will take day-to-day functional guidance from the B. Ed Chair or Advisor. The incumbent must be self-motivated and comfortable dealing with a variety of client audiences including students, faculty, staff, community agencies, other university departments, other universities, and the general public. This position requires a high level of sensitivity, diplomacy and judgment regarding the diverse, evolving nature of the Faculty, its resources, and community relationships.

 

 

This position has a university-wide mandate and is based at the Brantford Campus. The incumbent provides subject matter expertise to all campuses, requiring regular interpersonal interactions and collaboration with departments at the Waterloo Campus, the Brantford Campus, and external partners. Special attention is given to ensure equitable service delivery across all locations.

 

 

Accountabilities

Building Coordination

  • Coordinates with SHERM to ensure health and safety procedures, policies, and practices are being adhered to;

  • Coordinates service requests for maintenance repairs for building and equipment and custodial requests;

  • Coordinates with Special Constable with regards to security requests and emergency situations;

  • Coordinates faculty, student and staff training with regards to classroom technology, videoconferencing, conference phone, portable computer lab, accessible learning aids;

  • Coordinates external contractor schedules for building maintenance work;

  • Administers the distribution of campus wide communication with regard to service interruptions, scheduled maintenance, inspections, Library, building hours, course cancellation, One Card access and other notices as required;

  • Coordinates with Facilities with regards to the Faculty’s OneCard access, including registering new users and declaring access levels, identifying access levels for existing users, maintaining building access hours;

  • Coordinates with Facilities and Library to communicate building hours and ensures automatic locked doors and alarm set is accurate;
