Network Engineer

Description:

Reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and Operations, we are looking for a Network Engineer. As our new Network Engineer, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our network and data centre services, ensuring efficiency, security, and scalability. You will work closely with our engineering teams to implement and upgrade systems, adopt best practices, optimize performance, and support our international operations.

This is a hybrid opportunity, working Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays on-site in our downtown Toronto office. Our headquarters are located within minutes of St. Andrew and Union subway stations. Occasional travel to our US and Netherlands data centres may be required.

What's in it for you

Technical exposure. Our platform processes nearly 150 billion requests daily, driving programmatic traffic globally across all devices, streaming services, and out-of-home targeted advertising. You will ensure our network architectures and core data centres are resilient, secure, and scalable to support our business operations. This is an opportunity to be part of a network engineering team with the autonomy to choose how they work, taking ownership of directly implementing upgrades and performing maintenance.

Professional development. You want to grow - your skills, your influence, your career. You will be part of a forward-thinking team that embraces automation and cutting-edge technologies. We push the limits to improve and to reach our full potential, individually and as a company. We are committed to building the strengths of our team. You will have the chance to learn new tools and gain exposure to all technical aspects of the business.

How you will make an impact:

  • Oversee network and data centre operations. You will manage the day-to-day operations of our network and core data centre services, focusing on focusing on troubleshooting, operational networking, and power and cooling systems to ensure efficient and reliable infrastructure.
  • Lead hardware and network maintenance. You will oversee and conduct maintenance and upgrades for hardware and network systems, including structured cabling installations in our US and Netherlands data centres, requiring occasional travel to these locations.
  • Drive scalability strategies. You will develop and implement a strategy to scale our network architecture in line with company growth, assisting with the planning and purchasing of new hardware to meet evolving infrastructure demands.
  • Foster collaboration with teams and vendors. You will work closely with engineering teams and business leaders to ensure best practices in network management. You will maintain and enhance relationships with network and co-location vendors, driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Automate network infrastructure. You will lead the planning and implementation of network automation processes, including provisioning physical hardware to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual interventions. You will document network designs, configurations and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance and provide network support. You will support networking-related issues daily and assist with compliance activities, such as SOC2 audits, to ensure our network operations meet industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain network security protocols. You will oversee the implementation and maintenance of network security measures, protecting company data and infrastructure from external threats.

What you bring:

  • The networking and hands-on data centre experience. You bring expertise in managing enterprise-level networks, focusing on low latency and high throughput. You have worked closely with DevOps teams to facilitate network changes and are proficient in structured cabling, switch installations, server setups in data centres, and implementing Border Gateway Protocol (BGP). Your familiarity with SOC2 compliance, ITIL frameworks, and Agile practices ensures that you uphold industry standards. You hold Cisco certifications (CCNA, CCIE).
  • The Kubernetes and automation proficiency. You have hands-on experience with production Kubernetes environments and networking. A Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) certification would be an asset.
  • The growth mindset. You are naturally curious, eager to learn, and open to new ideas. You continuously seek to expand your knowledge and stay current with the latest networking technologies and best practices. You embrace challenges and are resourceful in finding solutions.
  • The interpersonal skills. You have professional communication skills and can build collaborative working relationships across teams, both in person and remotely. You thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and can adapt to changing priorities.
  • The flexibility. You understand the nature of networking maintenance and upgrades and can work outside of regular business hours for projects or on-call. You are willing and able to travel to our data centres in the United States and The Netherlands as needed. You have current or prior authorization to enter these countries or are eligible for visa-free entry.
