Reporting to Manager, I&IT Infrastructure Operations & Network Support office we are seeking Network Engineer to deploy, manage, maintain, monitor, operate a robust Network Infrastructure and administration across the entire Innovation & Information Technology organization and provide expert-level support and services within the Metrolinx enterprise network
What will I be doing?
- Providing expert-level support in high-volume critical environments to deploy, manage, maintain, monitor, test, operate and troubleshoot I&IT Networking Infrastructure services. Including but not limited to, building efficient and optimal networks for on-prem and co-located Data Center and Branch offices, including Wireless, local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs).
- Establishing cross-team relationships and partnering with all business disciplines, outsourced vendors, and external suppliers to define and implement the Cloud, Datacenter and Branch office Network roadmap
- Provide senior-level expertise for all phases of the networking infrastructure lifecycle management (LCM) from initiation through execution and ongoing management and support of the end-to-end network across all Metrolinx cloud, data center and branch office network systems.
- Provide Network Engineering Level 3 support for the enterprise network, end-user computing services delivery, hosting services, enterprise availability, server, storage, virtualization, inclusive of security/privacy, risk management, disaster and crisis management
- Perform racking, stacking, cabling and configurations of the networking equipment. Excel in Datacenter networking across various Fabric, Load balancer, Microsoft Azure Landing Zone, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, ACI, SDN and Reporting.
- Execute new initiatives to simplify, standardize, optimize, document and automate the network designs, tooling, and operations to reduce implementation cycle times, eliminate service downtime
- Explore and evaluate new and emerging software tools, technologies, and best practices. Implement, document, manage and support various Business and Infrastructure needs such as environment build, upgrades, consolidations while maintaining adequate system monitoring, policies, and audits.
- Performs various work as identified through work requests under the direction of the Manager, I&IT Infrastructure Operations & Network Support
- Provides mentoring and coaching to operations staff to support the IT environment.
- Follows Change Management and ITIL process for production changes and support.
Qualification:
- A University Degree/Diploma in Computer Science and Information Technology, Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching or Wireless, Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), F5 Certified specialist, ITIL or a combination of certifications/training and experience deemed equivalent
- Broad 5+ years of IT Networking Infrastructure services generalist with hands-on Networking Infrastructure level experience of Cisco, non-Cisco networks, Wireless Networking, Software-Defined Networks (SDN), Load balancers, Firewalls, Security design, DNS, NTP, Network Tools & Management
- Solid knowledge of networking technology and standard routing protocols such as TCP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, POP3, ICMP, DNS, HTTP, FTP, ACI, Spine & Leaf designs, CDP, Spanning Tree, Multicast, IPsec, RADIUS/TACACS+, SNMP, NTP, Web, Catalyst, Nexus, ASR/ISR and WI-FI WLC/AP, QoS, VTP, L2TP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, DNS, RDP, VRRP, STP, RSTP, HSRP, GLBP, vPC, vPC+, Fabric Path, FCoE, Traffic Filters with Access-Lists, NAT, PAP, CHAP, AAA, TACACS+, RSA, Firewall, IDS, Port Security, Storm control, ARP Inspection
- Expert level knowledge of Cisco WLCs (98xx/85xx), Cisco WAPs (9xxx/3xxx), DNA Center, ISE, ACI Implementation in DR setup, Infoblox IPAM, Prime Infrastructure, Solarwinds (SIEM, ORION suit), Palo Alto, Cisco ASA/Firepower, Virtual Networking, Compute/Network fabric backplane (HPE/UCS/Brocade), Domain Boundaries, Zoning, DMZ, Azure suite of tools under Networking, MDR (Managed Detection and Response), IP Telephony, VMWare NSX-T and F5 load balancers and SD-WAN, Experience with designing and engineering connectivity to public cloud providers utilizing technologies such as Azure ExpressRoute, PMP methodologies, CMDB concept are an asset.
- Experience with automating network functions through tools such as DNAC, python, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, or Terraform is an asset.

Working Conditions:
- The position is required to be available outside of regular hours and on-call to maintain business continuity and address urgent Infrastructure issues as they may arise. Frequent travelling to the data center and branch office is required.
