Description:
The Museum Interpreters will work closely with the manager and volunteers to provide immersive experiences for visitors including interpretive tours, weekly programming, and special events. This includes one activity or heritage presentation that will be planned and executed by the Museum Interpreter. Museum Interpreters will also learn basic Danish words and phrases as well as traditional crafts to be able to demonstrate for visitors. They will work within the artifact and archival collection areas to assist with accessioning and maintaining the collection and perform any research there.
They will contribute to the Museum's daily operations including answering the phone, responding to visitor inquiries, opening and closing tasks, cash handling, as well as exhibit and collections maintenance.
The successful candidate must be eligible for Young Canada Works funding. They should have excellent written and oral communications skills and be comfortable speaking to large groups. They will have good computer skills and an interest in developing marketing skills. They will be comfortable both working as part of a team and independently. Studies in Hospitality and Tourism, History, Education, Communications or Anthropology are preferred but not required.
