As our ideal candidate, you are enthusiastic about developing your engineering skills and eager to work on diverse municipal infrastructure projects. You will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the areas of water transmission and distribution, wastewater collection and pumping, stormwater infrastructure and management, transportation infrastructure, and contract administration.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Help Shape the Future of Municipal Infrastructure: Contribute to the design and planning of civil infrastructure projects, including water distribution, wastewater collection and pumping, sanitary sewer systems, and stormwater management facilities;
- Craft with Precision: Assist in developing detailed design drawings and technical documentation using AutoCAD and Civil 3D;
- Collaborate and Innovate: Work alongside senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to refine design concepts, perform engineering calculations, and ensure project specifications meet client needs and regulatory standards;
- Engage On-Site: Participate in site visits and fieldwork, collecting essential data for infrastructure investigations, observing construction activities, and supporting resident observation duties; and
- Support Project Success: Prepare technical reports, cost estimates, and tender documents.
Your Capabilities and Credentials:
- Educational and Professional Credentials: A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, with registration or eligibility for registration as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with Engineers Nova Scotia;
- Experience: This is an entry-level opportunity, ideal for candidates looking to kickstart their careers. While not required, consulting experience – especially in civil or municipal infrastructure projects – is a valuable asset;
- Technical/Design Experience: Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, InfraWorks, WaterCAD, PCSWMM, and ArcMap;
- Collaborative Communicator: Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with project stakeholders;
- Organized and Detail-Oriented: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently, maintain attention to detail, with the ability to thrive in a deadline-oriented environment; and
- Team Player: A collaborative mindset and a passion for contributing to a positive team environment.
