Description:
TC Energy’s North Bay Area is currently seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician to join our growing team in Sunrdige, ON, with the option to report from Bracebridge or North Bay, ON. This individual must be a self-starter, capable of working with minimal supervision, who possesses excellent troubleshooting, problem solving, and communication skills.
Reporting to the North Bay Compressor Station Manager, Operations, the Mechanical Technician will operate and maintain natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment in a manner that meets operational needs, ensuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
What You Will Do
- Apply mechanical skills and aptitude to operate, repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform planned maintenance and corrective tasks on natural gas compression and auxiliary equipment such as aero derivative/industrial gas turbines, centrifugal compressors, electrical generators, air compressors, pumps, valves, boilers, pipelines, filters, scrubbers, etc.
- Perform bore scope inspections on auxiliary power units (APU’s), pumps, air compressors, and other associated equipment used in natural gas compression
- Troubleshoot, test, & maintain auxiliary and HVAC systems.
- Operate and maintain assigned equipment in a manner to meet operational needs in compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor trend data, (vibration, pressure, temperature), and take appropriate action.
- Perform major maintenance on gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and associated auxiliary equipment.
- Lead/manage the safe and efficient completion of low to medium complexity projects with effective work management practices such as time management, work sequencing, and contractor oversight
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, P&IDs, etc.
- Complete job quality assurance documents (JQA’s) and work authorization/job safety analysis (JSA’s) along with other electronic documentation.
- Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, create new work orders, etc. in SAP.
- Complete core operational task qualifications required to perform job tasks.
- Supervise and coordinate third party contractors.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to other personnel.
- Demonstrate safety leadership.
- Collaborate and support our business partners as required.
- Respond to emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of third year of trades program, or, two years of technical training from a recognized institution (i.e., Millwright, Heavy-Duty Mechanic, Machinist)
- 3-5 years experience troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, installing, repairing, and operating mechanical equipment such as compressors, auxiliary engines, cooling equipment, valves, pumps, fittings, scrubbers, filters, electric motors, etc.
- Experience interpreting technical reference documents and reading drawings
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
- Must have a proven safe driving record and provide documentation of past traffic violations upon request, as well as maintain a valid driver's license.
