Leadership, Communication, and Research Program Representation
Oversee the implementation of the Mission and strategic plans of the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program
Communicate closely with the Scientific Director, and work co-operatively with members of the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program to achieve their goals by providing leadership, mentorship, and oversight of tasks for staff and students
Communicate regularly with stakeholders, funding agencies, and program collaborators and provide oversight of ethical conduct of research, budget compliance, and reporting
Engage new stakeholders for partnership and collaboration with the research program
Responsible for maintaining excellent relationships between the University of Calgary, Alberta Health Services, the Cumming School of Medicine and other significant stakeholders including, but not limited to, the Canadian Orthopaedic Trauma Society, the Alberta Bone and Joint Health Strategic Clinical Network, the McCaig Institute for Bone and Joint Health, Osteoporosis Canada
Develop communication strategies to engage the research team, patients, healthcare providers and internal and external stakeholders, including, but not limited website development, smart phone application development, and regular communication with funding agencies and study collaborators
Represent the Scientific Director and the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program principal investigators at investigator meetings, local, provincial, and national stakeholder meetings in the absence of, or in addition to the Scientific Director and principal investigators
Administration and Management
Ensure the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program operates effectively and efficiently by overseeing day-to-day functions of staff and students
Present regular program summaries of milestones and develop strategies to improve efficiencies, including identifying barriers and facilitators to achievement of project milestones
In collaboration with the Scientific Director, identify positions that would support the strategic goals, oversight of all HR functions including hiring, onboarding, team development, mentorship, performance management, and scheduling for staff attendance in clinic, for morning recruitment rounds, and for any required weekend or after-hours requirements
Anticipate program and research project needs using initiative to prepare and provide information that assists the Scientific Director in managing their multiple roles
Provide accurate and timely completion of special assignments and projects, including reports on findings and reporting, including recommendations and outcomes
Strategic Planning
Creates and facilitates implementation of operational strategies for the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program and supports the execution of these strategies
Responsible for establishing and monitoring goals and outcome measurement that align with the vision and mission of the Orthopaedic Trauma Research Program
Oversight of project milestones, ensuring execution of projects based on budget planning
