Description:
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy (Director), the Manager of Communications (Manager) is responsible for planning, implementing and managing the Office of the Languages Commissioner (OLC) communications, media relations, promotions and other activities. This position is also responsible on the OLC’s advertising and promotional campaigns, website, Facebook page, news releases, annual report, business plan, design communication tools and promotional materials to inform the public, to raise public awareness, its roles and mandate and increase the visibility of the OLC. With this, it also strengthens relations between the OLC, the people and obligated bodies, with respect to language rights and obligations. The incumbent works closely with the staff in developing coordinated communication strategies and advertising/promotional campaigns, and in writing briefing notes for OLC presentation to the Standing Committee and the Management and Services Board. The Manager is responsible for coordinating the graphic design and translations and for the writing of the OLC publications. In addition, the Manager is responsible for maintaining the OLC’s ability to host the domain and subdomains. This position has a direct impact on the public, including Inuit, English and French-speaking communities, Inuit and French organizations, territorial institutions, and key stakeholder organizations through the promotion of the OLC mandate, responsibilities and services.
