Description:
Reporting to the Canada Games Centre General Manager, The Manager, Finance, Administration & IT is responsible for the organization’s financial goals, objectives, budgets, and audit; oversee all accounting and related administration and information technology functions and the preparation of financial reports; and implement cash management strategies; work with Management/Board to develop strategies and implement long-term goals for the Canada Games Centre Society. The Manager, Finance, Administration & IT will facilitate success through a cooperative approach with the Society and quality leadership and communication to employees and contractors leading to a fiscally responsible organization.
Responsibilities
- Strategic management of the Accounting Team (plan, develop and coordinate accounting procedures for Society)
- Responsible for Accounting Team: hiring, training, goal setting, and performance management
- Ensure Accounting practices & records meet Canadian GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) standards and are accurate, secure and up to date
- Review and approve all accounting entries for accuracy and completeness
- Investment & Cash Management: ensure cash flow meets short- & long-term requirements; invest surplus cash funds while anticipating short-and long-term requirements with ongoing communications to the Finance committee
- Development and implementation of policies and procedures that is consistent with the Society’s mandate, business plan and best practices
- Review and implement financial, administrative and IT system and process improvements
- Oversee all financial, administration and IT systems and processes
- Work with Senior Management Team on Business Planning & Development (i.e. capital costs and Internal Business Analysis (i.e. operational efficiency)
- Responsible to actively monitor and question business practices, with the ultimate goal of ensuring the ongoing protection of the Society
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Must have a post-secondary degree in accounting with completion or near completion of an approved accounting designation
- Must have a minimum of five years progressive experience in a supervisory position
- Must have demonstrated experience in budget development, implementation, and monitoring of divisional budgets and the overall organization budget
- Ability to work within deadlines and to provide accurate and detailed financial information
- Must have solid experience in a computerized work environment and familiarity with a variety of accounting software
- Must have a general knowledge of IT requirements and the ability to troubleshoot problems
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing employees
- Effective oral and written communication and ability to present to all levels of management
