The Digital Design and Delivery (DDD) division within the Ministry of Technology and Innovation (TI) leads the development of the next generation of digital public services for the GoA. DDD partners with other departments to deliver products, platforms and services that are better, faster, and easier, through modern user-centered agile processes. The Software Delivery branch within DDD is accountable for the excellence of the technical delivery of software. The branch oversees the technical practices of Architecture, CloudOps, DevOps & Quality Assurance (QA), and Software Development. The branch also enables product and platform teams by providing access to underlying infrastructure such as capability in architecture, cloud services, and common tooling and patterns.

Role Responsibilities

The Manager of DevOps reports directly to the Director of DevOps and Quality Assurance (QA).

The responsibilities of this position include:

DevOps Practice and Governance

  • Contributing to overarching DevOps standards and protocols with a focus on delivery and users so that processes and tools facilitate rather than impede delivery of changes.
  • Maintaining relationships with managers across the branch, division, and in client ministries to advance collaboration, practice, and governance for DevOps.
  • Facilitating ongoing collaboration and teamwork with others in the ministry and within other ministries at various organizational levels.
  • Providing recommendations to senior leaders to improve governance standards and practice.
  • Developing DevOps practice handbooks for teams that provide guidance on best practices and common templates, scripts, and tools to support the continuous improvement and quality delivery of digital services.

DevOps Practice Leadership

  • Providing the team with the tools and supports that enable them to effectively deliver their objectives.
  • Managing team priorities and deliverables including the assignment of DevOps specialists to product and platform teams.
  • Defining reference pipelines for continuous delivery of digital services to help new teams get started quickly.
  • Identifying and addressing gaps in DevOps resources provided to teams.
  • Maintaining awareness of new developments in the DevOps practice in step with industry state of the art.
  • Maintaining relationships with DevOps practices within other digital government organizations.
  • Addressing and resolving escalated issues and mitigating conflict.
