Description:
The Manager Investment Operations Systems will develop, manage, and ensure timely and accurate completion of steady state activities related to investment operations systems within Sun Life Global Investments. The applicant will work with the Director, Trade Support and Custody, to support internal stakeholders and external parties on processes related to data management, investment operations systems and workflows. The applicant will work closely with Portfolio Management, Fund Adherence and Custody Operations on both tactical and strategic initiatives.
What will you do?
- Overall day to day operational responsibility for key business processes and applications
- Responsibility for effective coverage during team hours between 7 AM - 7 PM
- Responsible for ensuring optimal management of after-hours pager and support by the team
- Responsible for application and workflow enhancement requests from internal stakeholders
- Provide guidance to team members on analyzing and documenting application bugs and fixes, ensuring thorough testing of fixes before introduction into the production environment
- Work with application vendors and enterprise services team to coordinate project plans for enhancements and bug fixes, testing, implementation, and ongoing operational maintenance
- Track external vendor related inquiries and issues from discovery to completion; monitor Issue logs to ensure all issues are addressed and escalated appropriately
- Primary vendor support contact for day-to-day inquiries as well as escalation
- Coordinate training for users on applications through vendor and ad-hoc training sessions
- Ensure development and enhancement of sound and effective operational support protocols
- Build and maintain a positive working relationship with the team, internal stakeholders, external parties and within the broader organization
- Effectively articulate and implement viable solutions to existing problems and utilize analytical skills to anticipate potential operational hurdles
- Implement, monitor, and support robust change management procedures ensuring effective and efficient adoption of new policies and procedures
What do you need to succeed?
- University degree in business or technology
- 3 -7 years of strong investment business knowledge and experience in investment operations systems within the financial industry
- Experience in financial services operations or related technology roles
- Experience with Charles River or other buy-side order management systems
- Excellent business acumen: strategic thinking, business process development, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proven interpersonal and relationship management skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities
- Ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative environment
- Ability to work independently while managing individual and team deliverables
- Service minded and client oriented with strong negotiation and influencing skills
- Working knowledge of trading products, fund valuations and fund structures
