Description:
The OnCorr program has the objective of building an enhanced commuter rail network to meet the corporate mandate and business objectives while adhering to Metrolinx’s highest standards for safety, efficiency, and legal/regulatory/policy compliance, while delivering excellent customer experience. The Manager of Electrification will be responsible for specific elements of the delivery of electrification capital works and will support and oversee consultants and contractor’s work. Additionally, will actively lead all activities to ensure achievement of objectives according to defined timelines, budget and approved project deliverables.
What will I be doing?
- Works collaboratively with the OnCorr capital project delivery partner, to develop a design, standards, and construction implementation program for Electrification. Identify existing and potential issues, and initiates corrective action to avoid serious project delays or budget impacts; determines what requires escalation and initiates appropriate action additions/revisions to the formulation of standards and guidelines to ensure overall project management excellence
- Oversees design and construction of electrification component(s), including the full build out of the corridor (including power supply, OCS, track and signals) to ensure electrification product delivery adheres to quality and reliability standards
- Monitors the overall Electrification/Railway Construction program and takes remedial action to address impediments that may disrupt or jeopardize the project and corporate objectives
- Ensures electrification and SCADA systems meet all requirements of the safety-critical system, and that contract-specified design processes and industry standards are adhered to
- Liaises with internal stakeholders to understand clients’ needs and provide effective results aligned with overall service delivery model and Railway Infrastructure
- Provides leadership oversight and direction to staff and project teams, including defining team member roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a degree in applied science, engineering, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent
- Minimum eight (8) years’ project management experience related to the planning, design, and construction of transit facilities, station infrastructure and related works
- Knowledge of railway corridor infrastructure and related construction projects
- Project management methodologies to manage construction projects from start to completion; knowledgeable of procurement processes in order to identify opportunities for improvements and cost savings
- Understands theories, principles and practices of electrification, civil and architectural design and construction; skill and proficiency in broad phases of engineering application
- Budget management to plan and monitor departmental budgets against limitations
- Leadership ability to coach, mentor and manage a team of technical project professionals
- Problem solving and analytical skills to evaluate and address contractor and supplier performance issues and recommend plans for improvement; to evaluate and address program impediments with the potential to disrupt or jeopardize the project and/or corporate objectives
