Description:
Looking for a highly motivated and experienced part-time website developer to join our team and help revamp our department website. The project aims to improve the user experience and overall design of the website in anticipation of celebrating the department's 50th anniversary. The developer will be responsible for working closely with the Associate Director, the Communications Officer, and the Faculty’s site manager to implement a redesign and functionality for the website using Drupal.
Collaborate with the Communications Officer, the Associate Director, and the Site Manager
Build the department website using McGill’s WMS based on Drupal.
Ensure that the website is optimized for mobile devices and search engines.
Test and troubleshoot website issues.
Ensure the website is up-to-date and secure.
Ensure that the website aligns with the theme and branding of the Faculty and Department's 50th anniversary celebrations.
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
Strong experience building websites using the administration interface of tools like Drupal, WordPress, or Squarespace
Experience with responsive web design and cross-browser compatibility
Experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP
Strong understanding of website performance optimization techniques
Experience with website security and maintenance
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Experience with website analytics and user data analysis is a plus.
Ability to keep up with and adapt to best practices, regulatory changes, and institutional standards for site and content management.
