Interim Executive Director

 

Description:

The Black CAP is seeking a dynamic and experienced Interim Executive Director to lead our organization during a period of significant transition. The Interim Executive Director will work closely with the Transitional Board of Directors, leadership team, staff, funders and community stakeholders to ensure the effective management and delivery of our programs and services.

 

This role requires a seasoned leader with extensive experience in interim or transitional executive roles, capable of upholding our mission, inspiring our team, and driving strategic initiatives forward. The selected candidate will not be considered for the permanent Executive Director role.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The Interim Executive Director will collaborate with the Transitional Board of Directors to conduct internal and external analyses, set organizational goals, and develop policies for Board approval.
  • The Interim Executive Director will foster a collaborative work environment, stabilization of funder relationships, implementation of financial controls, manage staff and contractors, oversee programs and services, and ensure compliance with Funding Agreements and Board policies.
  • The Interim Executive Director will also maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, implement sound financial practices, and manage fund development activities.
  • Additionally, the Interim Executive Director will advise the Board on risks and opportunities, support governance refresh efforts, manage labour relations, and ensure a smooth transition and effective handover to the permanent Executive Director.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • The ideal candidate will have a master's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience and proven experience as an interim or transitional Executive Director or CEO, successfully leading organizations through periods of transition and change.
  • The ideal candidate will have lived and professional experience and a thorough understanding of the challenges, needs and realities of African, Black and Caribbean populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of anti-oppression frameworks, social, structural, and colonial determinants of health and the principles of intersectionality and how to mitigate their impacts on marginalized populations.
  • Experience in navigating transitions, managing complex operational and financial challenges, and engaging with diverse stakeholders is essential.
