Instructor, Gas Fitting

 

Description:

RRC Polytech is actively seeking a qualified Instructor to join its Piping Trades Department at the Notre Dame Campus in Winnipeg, Manitoba. In this role, the instructor will be responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training in Gas Fitting to both apprentices and pre-employment students enrolled in Gasfitter and related Construction Trades Programs.

The instructor will cover a wide array of topics including trade safety, tools and equipment, gas piping, gas code, system design, installation, and commissioning. The role involves student supervision, guidance, evaluation, academic advising, and maintaining student records. Additionally, the instructor will contribute to curriculum development, classroom and lab setup, equipment maintenance, and participate in department and college committees, including student orientation and graduation events.

Key Responsibilities:

🔹 Assist in student orientation and graduation activities.


Required Qualifications:
Valid Inter-Provincial Journeyperson Certificate in Gasfitter A.
✅ Significant industry experience in commercial and/or residential gas fitting.
✅ Experience with gasfitting equipment controls.
✅ Proficiency using hand tools and machinery.
✅ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
✅ Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution techniques.
✅ Proven leadership abilities.
✅ Ability to work independently and in team environments.
✅ Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
✅ Strong presentation and instructional skills.
✅ Flexibility to teach both on campus and remotely.
✅ Experience promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.


Asset Qualifications:
➕ Additional Inter-Provincial Journeyperson Certificate in Plumbing, Refrigeration, or Steam Fitting.
Certificate in Teaching for Learning or Adult Education.
➕ Post-secondary teaching experience.
➕ Experience in curriculum development.
➕ Established network of contacts within the gasfitting and construction industry.


Conditions of Employment:
✔ Legally entitled to work in Canada.
✔ Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and summer months if required.
✔ May need to work at various RRC Polytech campuses.
✔ Instructors must complete the Teaching for Learning (TFL) in Applied Education program, or already possess a Certificate in Adult Education (CAE).


Salary & Benefits:
💰 Monthly Salary: 5,281 to 8,078 CAD
💰 Additional Educational Supplement for Master’s (2,850 CAD/year) or PhD (5,700 CAD/year)
