Infrastructure Reliability Engineer

 

Description:

Within Enterprise Technology & Services, the Cloud Operations Team provides technical expertise in monitoring and operational support of cloud and virtual infrastructure. By providing subject matter expertise, this team works with our Global IS team, business technologists, Audit Services and Security groups to support Cloud Deployments of Windows and Linux servers.

This role will be primarily work from home, with occasional travel into office.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24/7 support of various virtual infrastructure and servers

  • Will be required to participate in an on call rotation

  • Delivery of patches to supported servers outside of business hours

  • Monitor Cloud based and On Premise infrastructure, evaluate and resolve alerts

  • Create and edit procedural and technical documentation

  • Review and validate infrastructure designs associated with projects

  • Develop or contribute to business cases and proposals

  • Provide governance oversight for troubleshooting complex problems. This involves working closely with business units, other infrastructure teams and external vendors.

  • Work closely with the IT security, audit, contracts and legal groups to ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and contractual obligations

  • Occasional regional travel to/from Toronto/Waterloo offices

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years in similar role

  • Working knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows Server Operating Systems

  • Experience working within Azure Cloud

  • Experience monitoring IT Infrastructure for its availability, capacity, hardware and OS

  • Knowledge of supported technologies (i.e. Azure, NewRelic, Chef, Powershell, Terraform)

  • Ability to build relationships, engage and influence others, work with business units, architects, peers and partners globally

  • Proven interpersonal skills: collaboration and communications skills (oral, written, presentation) with the ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.

  • Experience implementing and/or supporting a large scale corporate enterprise solutions.

  • Experience working within an Agile methodology

  • Strong team player, achievement oriented; works well to establish and maintain collaboration

  • Ability to think strategically, assess alternatives for short and long term impacts and act decisively

  • This role could work full time remote from Ontario or Massachusetts.
