Description:
Tamara’s Piano Studio and Music Therapy Services (TPSMTS) is seeking an Independent Contractor Music Therapist to join our dedicated team. We are a primarily pediatric Music Therapy practice specializing in 1:1 adapted music lessons and Music Therapy services for children, adolescents, and adults with developmental disabilities and neurological disorders. Sessions take place in our Thornhill studio and in clients' homes throughout York Region and the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
Responsibilities:
- Be available on-call to cover sessions for company Music Therapists.
- Prepare and deliver Music Therapy sessions and adapted music lessons for clients of varying abilities in the studio and in-home settings.
- Implement a client-centered, flexible, and creative approach tailored to each individual's strengths and needs.
- Maintain weekly client progress notes for review by the Director.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and events.
- Communicate with clients, families, staff, and the Director regularly.
- Assist in performance preparations for the annual "End-of-the-Year Party and Recitals."
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy, including a 1,000-hour internship.
- Certified Music Therapist (MTA) in good standing.
- Member of the Canadian Association of Music Therapy (CAMT) and the Music Therapy Association of Ontario (MTAO).
- Minimum 1 year of experience working with individuals with developmental delays and neurological disorders.
- At least 1 year of experience providing music lessons (piano, voice, guitar, etc.).
- Passion for Music Therapy with strong clinical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, writing, and organizational skills.
- Availability to work in-studio (Thornhill) and in clients’ homes across York Region/GTA.
- Clear vulnerable sector police check.
- Proof of receiving all recommended COVID-19 vaccinations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) certification (or equivalent) in piano or another instrument.
- Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) Training.
- Member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) (qualifying or current).
- First Aid & CPR-C certification.
- Valid G-Class driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
