As the Health, Safety and Environment Manager for Drax you will be responsible for making sure that our Meadowbank and Williams Lake locations are compliant with all HSE regulations. You will foster a “Safety First” culture of data driven continuous improvement for all aspects of the departments.

If you are a HSE professional with several years of industrial manufacturing in wood processing or related industries who enjoys field work and being ‘boots on the ground’, we want to hear from you!

Schedule / Location:

  • This position works primarily weekday's, but does have a component of on call for major incident support
  • Due to potential on-call nature of the role, we do require our successful candidate to be located within Williams Lake, Quesnel, or Meadowbank, or any community in the surrounding areas
     

So, what will you be doing?

  • Provide support and implement the company safety culture, policies, and procedures; oversee risk assessment and risk mitigation measures on-site and before the commencement of projects and undertake corrective and preventive measures to ensure a proper HSE compliance and ownership at the facility
  • Create proposals for corrective or preventive measures and investigate, analyze, and regularly review accidents or near misses. You will ensure that work safety permits are enforced as necessary
  • With a highly visible, hands-on management style, you will engage all employees in safety issues and set high personal standards. Through written policy and procedures, you will ensure that the regular emergency response is effective, and that managers and employees are always prepared
  • Champions the Drax Safety Program; providing leadership by encouraging and demonstrating a safe and healthy work environment, aligned with company policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates strong communication skills across the plant and with Drax colleagues (reliability, technical, process, and automation teams) to achieve maintenance objectives
