Description:
The HR Business Partner provides trusted consultation, advice, coaching, and other related support to the business and its people at BCRTC. As a key member of the BCRTC People (HR) Services team and working collaboratively with functional specialists within the Enterprise to ensure People Services plans, programs and practices are aligned to support the achievement of BCRTC’s business objectives.
Key Accountabilities
Develops and maintains effective partnerships with designated business leaders, and serves as a strategic HR advisor, providing trusted advice to proactively support the execution of a positive employee experience and achievement of business objectives. Coordinates access to the full range of HR services, identifying and assessing talent needs and opportunities.
Applies HR expertise and deep knowledge of the business to develop talent strategies and tactics for assigned business portfolios. Leverages specialist team expertise across all HR disciplines to facilitate effective talent practices and processes. Involves employee relations, performance management, recruitment and staffing, workforce planning, compensation, organization design, employee engagement, resource planning, labour relations, change management, learning and career development, and succession planning.
Develops and maintains relationships with union leaders and representatives and engages in dialogue with staff to proactively address day-to-day issues and mitigate potential grievances related to a respectful workplace. Liaises with BCRTC labour relations resources to ensure compliance in the application/interpretation of the collective agreements.
Provides business input and supports the specialist teams across all HR disciplines on the development of new BCRTC people initiatives. Manages the implementation and execution of HR Services and Organization Development programs and related value-added HR processes that support business goals and objectives.
Provides consultation on policy interpretation and application of employment standards and other regulatory requirements, ensuring proper implementation of HR practices and initiatives within the context of the policy and legislative framework. Supports the delivery of complex and sensitive Respectful Workplace investigations
Maintains an external perspective anticipating people trends and researching best practices as necessary to ensure HR Service solutions are optimized for business leaders and employees. Practices continuous learning by keeping abreast of human resources generalist knowledge and leveraging internal human resources specialists.
Provides business input and supports the development of new people initiatives. Collaborates actively with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with the enterprise’s overarching HR People Plan.
Contributes to the assessment of existing programs and processes by collecting tracking and summarizing critical HR metrics, including analyzing trends and providing recommendations for changes to programs and initiatives. Compiles various reports highlighting key trends and observations and provides recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The requirements for this job are acquired through a degree in human resources or a related discipline, and five years of related experience as an Advisor, Business Partner, or Consultant. A professional designation (CPHR) is preferred.
