Hardware Lifecycle Mechanical Designer

 

Description:

As a Hardware Lifecycle Mechanical Engineer, responsibilities include:

  • Technical coordination of product lifecycle issues and resolution
  • Development of mechanical solutions adhering to IATF 16949 processes
  • Hands-on solution development, including hardware design, test plan, test execution, test reports, documentation updates, and final implementation
  • Creation or modification of data sets, such as BOM and assembly drawings
  • Creation of Engineering Change Orders and conducting Root Cause Analysis when required
  • Involvement of subject matter experts as needed, and support for Project Managers
  • Provide lessons learned to the development team and working with the repair team to understand customer returns

Qualifications:

Must-Have:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise in injection molded plastics, machined components, sheet metal, and sealing strategies
  • Foundational understanding and experience in cable harnesses and interconnect solutions for electronic assemblies
  • Strong skills in 3D modeling, preferably with Creo
  • Experience with DFMA and GD&T, and familiarity with various standards such as MIL-SPEC, IEC, ISO
  • Foundational understanding and experience with Root Cause Analysis
  • Able to work with hand tools and proficiency in PCs, operating systems, and software packages
  • Strong collaboration, negotiation, and persuasion skills
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams
