Description:
The Graphics and Communications Coordinator (GCC) will assist the UTMSU executive in developing social media campaign plans, designs and strategies to facilitate the success of the
UTMSU’s campaigns, advocacy, services and events. The GCC will be expected to write for and manage the UTMSU website, and create social media graphics for the UTM community.
Therefore, the GCC must have outstanding writing, communication, and graphic design skills.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Must complete a minimum of forty (40) office hours a week.
- Attend mandatory bi-weekly meetings with the Executive Director and President.
- Attend monthly full-time staff meetings and monthly office meetings.
- Design graphics, content, and social media posts for students to assist the UTMSU with outreach, events, and campaigns.
- Create a communication vision and strategies to engage with the members (UTM students) alongside the executive committee.
- Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
- Actively manage the UTMSU social media accounts and websites.
- Create and write communication posts for the UTMSU website on a consistent basis.
- Manage active membership lists and email drives.
- Write and manage the UTMSU BiWeekly Newsletter.
- Organize media strategies and develop press releases alongside the President.
- Expand the organization’s media contact to assist in advocating and supporting the union’s goals and initiatives.
- Engage in collective office work, general operations and day-to-day administrative responsibilities and additional duties assigned by the Executive Director.
- Maintain oversight and management on any and all projects done by promotions and social media part-time coordinator and/or volunteers.
- Work with designers, writers, editors and other creative staff to produce marketing collateral in accordance with brand messages.
- Take on any other responsibilities given by the UTMSU Executive Director as deemed necessary.
