Description:
Reporting to the Fleet Operations Manager, Fleet Supervisor provides supervision and direction to a team of technicians who safely operate, repair, and maintain GFL Environmental owned commercial diesel and alternative fuel trucks, and mobile/stationary heavy equipment to ensure its ability to operate safely. The lead hand technician Fleet Supervisor has a split of duties between planning, scheduling supervising and repair tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily planning and scheduling of all repair work to optimize productivity. Follow up on repairs being made, perform repairs as needed and appraise performance of shop personnel.
- Review of mechanical write-ups on equipment and coordinate repair schedule (including preventative maintenance requirements).
- Assist with inventory control system to ensure necessary equipment and part levels are maintained and purchases are within budget.
- Review and approve expenses that are within approval level; refer larger expenses or major repairs to Fleet Operations Manager.
- Complete required record keeping associated with repairing vehicles and mobile/stationary equipment , documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Review, plan and schedule work as required.
- Mentor apprentice technicians and provide training to complete their apprenticeship program.
- Conduct daily shop huddles and fleet walks.
- Ensure shop equipment and tools in safe operating condition.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the maintenance shops through regular inspections and preventive maintenance programs.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Requirements:
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Journeyman/Red Seal and Millwright experience is preferred but not required.
- Experience in leading a team is desirable but not required.
- One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience
