The Corporate Services Division of Highways and Public Works provides critical central agency services to government and direct services to the department itself. We provide risk management, procurement, surplus asset disposal, mail delivery, insurance, travel and fleet vehicle services to Yukon government departments. We also provide policy, communications, and finance services to the Department of Highways and Public Works. Our division employs analysts, procurement specialists, fleet, travel and mail service specialists, accountants and many other professionals.

The Corporate Services Finance Branch streamlines and improves finance processes to allow Highways and Public Works to deliver programs and services more efficiently and effectively. We are a group of professionals that pride ourselves on our customer service focused finance culture and approach. We support a variety of different branches within HPW and value our teamwork, collaboration, and client service. We require a person to assimilate within our group to help prepare financial reports and departmental submissions, monitor and report on expenditures, recoveries and transfer payment agreements, and to provide financial analysis and recommendations to assist management with decision making.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, Financial Officers are responsible for supporting the financial management and planning activities within the department. This position is integral in the preparation of a variety of financial reports, departmental budgets, and audit requests. They are responsible for the development and review of departmental submissions, including management board, budget and variance submissions. They lead and implement current and new HPW finance initiatives including the review and development of processes and procedures. The Financial Officer proactively monitors the financial health of our department and discusses their findings with the Manager, Finance and divisional/branch senior team members by providing information, options and advice. They work closely with all members of the HPW Finance team to provide ideas, input and direction for the implementation of improvements to the HPW Finance Branch overall.
