Financial Analyst

 

Description:

The Finance Department is a core governmental service that provides city-wide financial services and functions including
financial reporting, purchasing, revenue & collections and insurance administration. Reporting to the Manager of Financial
Services, you will be a key member of the Finance team, performing critical work pertaining to city-wide financial planning,
reporting and analysis, annual budgeting, forecasting and business case analysis.

Your key accountabilities include: 

Supporting the annual operating, capital budgeting and 5 year plan projections, quarterly reporting & financial forecasting,
year-end audit and reporting, including but not limited to grant and reserve monitoring, tracking and reporting. 

Preparing, analyzing, and summarizing a wide variety of financial information. 
Assisting client departments in administering their financial planning, budget and forecasting activities. 
Monitoring and analyzing budget variances. 
Preparing audit working papers, grant claims and financial reports for senior management. 
Providing technical advice on specific business and financial issues and ensuring compliance with corporate and financial

policies, procedures and legislation. 
Assisting in identifying and recommending improvements in financial and business processes to optimize the effectiveness

and service delivery for all areas of accountability. 
Works with the team on system implementation, testing and performance review.
