Financial Analyst

 

Description:

You will be reporting to the Vice President & Corporate Controller, and closely working with Assistant Controller. You will provide accurate and data-driven information on the company’s profitability, KPI metrics, liquidity, and more. You will be deeply involved in preparing Board and Executive reporting packages. You will also analyze and research financial information to help the company make well-informed decisions, write reports and monitor financial movements.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly reporting package and consolidation for management.
  • Review and improve our employee expense reporting process and prepare expense analysis reports.
  • Responsible for recording and reconciling cash and expenses on a monthly basis.
  • Accountable for treasury function, which includes cash management and forecasting cash budget.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and monthly forecasts.
  • Coordinating the annual audit and tax work.
  • Consolidating and analyzing financial data (budgets, income statement forecasts, etc.) taking into account the company’s goals and financial metrics;
  • Tracking and determining financial status by analyzing actual results in comparison with forecasts.
  • Providing creative alternatives and recommendations to improve financial performance/tracking thereof.
  • Driving process improvement and policy development initiatives that impact the function.
  • Responsible for researching of new accounting standards and policies.
  • Gaining and developing job knowledge to remain relevant in the field.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of work experience in audit or in a corporate environment (within finance or accounting teams);
  • Finance/Accounting degree (BCom);
  • Professional designation (CPA, CFA – or in the process) is considered an asset;
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to manipulate large data sets demonstrate critical thinking in producing various analyses and tables, as well as develop charts/graphs in both Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Proven understanding of financial statements, and proven knowledge of financial analysis, variance analysis, and forecasting;
  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to self-review;
  • Ability to adapt to versatile deliverables/analyses and demonstrate logic/reasoning;
  • Exhibit strong time management skills, ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment with ad-hoc deliverables;
  • Strong communication, writing, and presentation skills;
  • Desire to learn and be involved in a variety of ad-hoc projects and changing reporting needs.
