Finance Manager

Description:

The Finance Manager, Tax will support the AVP, Canadian Tax Operations in preparing the quarterly and year-end tax provisions under IFRS, as well as the related Canadian tax compliance matters for Sun Life Assurance Company of Canada. The role requires analytical and problem-solving skills; accounting/tax experience in a corporate environment is an asset. A detail-oriented mindset is critical. The role will report directly to the AVP, Canadian Tax Operations.

The Finance Manager, Tax is responsible for:

• Assisting in the accurate and timely preparation of federal and provincial income tax returns for Sun Life Financial and its Canadian subsidiaries

• Assisting with preparation of formal responses to queries from tax authorities

• Preparing portions of the Canadian quarterly consolidated income tax provision, including the current and future tax asset/liability reconciliation

• Being apprised of changes in accounting and financial reporting to ensure tax implications are understood and communicated

• Liaising with financial staff in other areas regarding information needed to ensure accurate and timely tax compliance and reporting

• Providing support as needed to other members of the corporate tax team

• Assisting in developing and implementing process improvements to meet business goals

• Assisting with technical research and analysis for reporting purposes

• Assisting with preparation of technical memos and process documentation

What will you do?

• Prepare quarterly and year-end income tax provisions under IFRS

• Prepare monthly tax account reconciliations

• Prepare corporate income tax returns

• Provide tax analysis for financial statement and management reporting

• Assist the Tax Director and other members of the team on Audit queries

• Monthly corporate tax instalment payments for all Canadian entities
