As a key member of the Finance Team and a Business Partner to operations and business units, the Finance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial development through a strong operating mindset and extensive experience, preferably in an architectural and/or engineering consulting environment.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise in financial analysis and continuous improvement of the finance operating model. By analyzing day-to-day financial activities with accuracy, you provide valuable insights and recommendations to upper management. Your guidance empowers the company’s leaders to make informed decisions that align with the organization’s long-term goals and build out a leading-edge finance function with your team.

 

You play an important role in developing and implementing financial plans that support the company’s growth and profitability. Monitoring financial performance, identifying areas for improvement, and capitalizing on opportunities will be essential to your role. You will support the continuous improvement of the firm’s financial processes and systems, ensuring they are suitable in a constantly changing market. You will be able to prioritize and drive change to deliver increased efficiency and effectiveness of controls.

What You Will Do

  • Act as a finance business partner to Finance Leadership and provide ongoing financial support to Project Managers
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of financial operations for the Business Units, including Financial Statement Review & Analysis, Reconciliations, Days Sales Outstanding, WIP and Billings Management
  • Support timely and accurate completion of financial statements, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
  • Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends and providing insights to support strategic decision-making
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
  • Supervise and mentor a team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
  • Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries or issues
  • Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and recommending process improvements as necessary
  • Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Coordinate with other Finance Leaders across the business to plan and implement continuous business process improvements and best practices
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing financial guidance as needed
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key contractual agreements with clients
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external auditors
  • Provide support as required on potential new acquisitions and integration of project financial data

What You Bring to the Table

  • Professional accounting designation such as a CPA is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Minimum of five years of directly related financial management experience
  • Demonstrated excellence in building strong relationships with Business Leaders and Project Managers
  • Proven track record of helping leaders clearly understand the relevant financial aspects of projects they lead and the business centers and business lines they manage
  • Proactive approach to effective financial management
  • Ability to determine how systems and processes may best be applied to streamline administrative practices
  • Skilled at leading teams and working collaboratively within team environments
  • Very strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Self-motivation with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment is considered an asset
