As a key member of the Finance Team and a Business Partner to operations and business units, the Finance Manager plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s financial development through a strong operating mindset and extensive experience, preferably in an architectural and/or engineering consulting environment.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to utilize your expertise in financial analysis and continuous improvement of the finance operating model. By analyzing day-to-day financial activities with accuracy, you provide valuable insights and recommendations to upper management. What You Will Do
- Act as a finance business partner to Finance Leadership and provide ongoing financial support to Project Managers
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting
- Coordinate and manage all aspects of financial operations for the Business Units, including Financial Statement Review & Analysis, Reconciliations, Days Sales Outstanding, WIP and Billings Management
- Support timely and accurate completion of financial statements, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports
- Monitor and analyze financial data, identifying trends and providing insights to support strategic decision-making
- Maintain and enforce internal controls to protect company assets and ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Supervise and mentor a team, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback
- Collaborate with external auditors during financial audits, providing necessary documentation and addressing inquiries or issues
- Stay updated on changes in accounting regulations and standards, ensuring compliance and recommending process improvements as necessary
- Participate in the development and implementation of accounting policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Coordinate with other Finance Leaders across the business to plan and implement continuous business process improvements and best practices
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing financial guidance as needed
- Maintain a strong understanding of key contractual agreements with clients
- Work collaboratively with both internal and external auditors
- Provide support as required on potential new acquisitions and integration of project financial data
What You Bring to the Table
- Professional accounting designation such as a CPA is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Minimum of five years of directly related financial management experience
- Demonstrated excellence in building strong relationships with Business Leaders and Project Managers
- Proven track record of helping leaders clearly understand the relevant financial aspects of projects they lead and the business centers and business lines they manage
- Proactive approach to effective financial management
- Ability to determine how systems and processes may best be applied to streamline administrative practices
- Skilled at leading teams and working collaboratively within team environments
- Very strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-motivation with the ability to prioritize and multi-task
- Previous experience in a consulting engineering environment is considered an asset
