The Opportunity

We are seeking a Finance and Contracts Manager to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for effective and efficient financial and contracts management for Magnet across all projects and programs. You will provide financial management advice and guidance to Magnet’s executive team to ensure that financial integrity and the University’s accountability standards are met. You will manage and maintain the financial and resource management systems and processes to ensure Magnet is achieving planned targets. You will also lead the contracting process for all new projects, programs and initiatives, and will supervise the work of an Administrative Coordinator and other staff members.

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in Business Management, Finance, or a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant financial and administrative experience, including operations and office management, financial and budget administration and reporting, project management and support.
  • Experience in a support function to a senior management team.
  • Experience managing staff within a high-volume functioning unit.
  • Strong finance and budget management skills;
  • Strong people management and supervisory skills;
  • Conceptual and computational skills;
  • Strong analytical reasoning skills;
  • Leadership skills;
  • Strong working knowledge of human resource management and administration in a unionized environment;
  • Effective office-management and organization skills;

  • Strong interpersonal/human relations skills;
  • Project management skills;
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant computer software such as Microsoft Office, Google Apps, MS Project, MS Access, Oracle Financial;
  • Capacity to exercise discretion, confidentiality and a professional decorum in dealings with personnel within TMU and outside agencies.
