The Field Technology Services Analyst role is a vital position that provides deskside support to BC Wildfire Services staff and sets up critical network infrastructure in the field to support wildfire response teams. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Degree in the Information Management/Information Technology Field or equivalent and two (2) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years) related IT experience; OR
  • Diploma in the Information Management/Information Technology Field or equivalent and three (3) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years) related IT experience; OR
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent and four (4) years of recent (within the last ten (10) years) related IT, an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with computer hardware, software, and security administration.
  • Experience with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and problem resolution of IT hardware, software, operating systems, and network components.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience providing direct technical client service.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing.

 


Preference may be given to applicants with:

  • iStore experience.
  • Satellite Internet support experience.

 


Provisos

  • Must be available to participate in availability schedules and accept standby assignments for critical business areas. Deployment on short notice to cover fire center and remote fire camps throughout the province may be required.
  • Must be willing to work in harsh remote environments with tangible implications and external stressors (health safety, risk to life, limb, and property damage), often in isolation without supervision.
  • Must be willing to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by various vehicles, boats, non-commercial aircraft, or foot, overnight/extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions, occasionally while towing trailers and heavy equipment long distances to remote locations across BC
  • Must be available to work evening/weekends, travelling by land, water, or air during fire season as and when required
