Manitoba Infrastructure is seeking a highly motivated individual to work within our Water Operations Branch. Water Operations ensures safe and effective provincial water related infrastructure through the delivery of inspection, planning, design, maintenance, rehabilitation and construction activities. The Branch is responsible for the overall management of infrastructure inventory that includes: drains, dams, flood protection dikes, diversions, bridges, culverts and pumping stations.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Must have a valid Class 5.0 Drivers Licence.
  • Must be able to frequently travel to work sites within the province by ground and air transportation which may require overnight stays in a camp environment.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor rough terrain environment in both winter and summer and can be exposed to construction equipment, roadway traffic, fabrication plant equipment, noise, dust, hand/power tools, and moving equipment.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Completion of a Civil Engineering Technology Diploma or Civil Technician Certificate or completion of Department Level 1 training courses (or working towards).
  • Experience with survey procedures (water control preferred).
  • Good written communication skills with ability to complete daily diary, work sheets and/or reports.
  • Knowledge of Global Navigation Satellite System guidelines, procedures, and policies.
  • Good interpersonal and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively and courteously with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of Occupational, Safety, Health & Risk Management policies and procedures.
  • Experience in culvert/structure construction, survey and inspection.
  • Ability to work independently.
