Field Engineer

 

Description:

  • Incumbent will provide technical assistance and support to CFO sites/departments
  • Participate in incident investigations as requested, and attend risk assessment reviews as the SME or Knowledgeable Person
  • Support CFO efforts to achieve operational excellence through improvements in facilities and equipment maintenance strategies
  • Work with CFO terminals to develop/enhance operating procedures and standardization of processes
  • Provide oversight of detailed engineering consultant project work, including review/approval of drawings and technical specs and seek resolution of any discrepancies that may develop
  • Ensure that all personal development and training requirements are kept up-to-date
  • Strives for the goal of zero incidents, by ensuring employees, contractors and visitors adhere to our safety and security policies, including personal protective equipment. Promotes the use of LPS in everyday activities, including safe behaviours and demonstrating LPSA and hazard identification, JLA and LPO’s.
  • Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to achieve flawless operations at CFO pipelines and terminals
  • Provide support to Operations for projects that may be led/executed by other IOL departments and act as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC). Note: This assignment may require working at the job site for an extended period.
  • Participate in operations risk assessments, operations integrity and quality assessments
  • Support Operations in OIMS system gap closures and participates as an OIMS System Champion/Specialist as needed
  • Manage and take full accountability for all aspects of safety, cost, schedule and quality for all assigned projects in accordance with design standards, applicable codes and within the framework of OIMS and CIMS.
  • Incorporate applicable Best Practices into projects and communicate Lessons Learned to stakeholders/FE team
  • Ensure effective control of changes and project costs consistent with CIMS and the overall project objectives, priorities, and philosophy, using established Change, Cost and Schedule control procedures
  • Monitoring contractor safety and construction performance, ensuring that all expectations are met.

Qualifications

Academic

  • Must hold an engineering degree from a Canadian Accredited University and professional designation (or working towards).

 


Other

  • Strong safety mindset/culture demonstrated during all aspects of work
  • Strong communications, interpersonal and issues resolution skills
  • Strong planning, organizational, and decision making skills
  • Must be able to plan work and execute against objectives in an independent manner
  • Strong project management skills with budgeting/cost control skills
  • Good coaching, interpersonal, communication and issue resolution skills, and ability to provide work direction to contractors
  • Multitasking skills are essential to keep on top of issues, new requests and base program execution
  • Must possess appropriate leadership skills to produce group results in project team lead position
  • Some operational background would be an asset
  • Technical skills to appraise work of others and to make sound business decisions
  • Ability and perseverance to follow–up, resolve and close issues and items promptly
  • Computer usage skills; MS Project, Word, Excel, email and other desk top software
