Description:
- Contacts new business prospects and works to cross-market Center for Business (CfB) programs to both new and existing employers.
- Works towards specific targets as determined by the annual goals of the Field Education and Partnerships office and the Centre for Business.
- Schedules face-to-face meetings/presentations with senior level management (e.g., HR Directors, Divisional/Departmental Directors, Line Managers, and other senior managers) from a variety of major economic sectors including business, government, not-for-profits, associations, etc.
- Conducts cold telephone calls and organizes targeted mailings to employers to promote the Field Education and Partnerships office (recruitment services, new program offerings, events, etc.).
- Provides employers with information on students’ technical capabilities that assists them in the evaluation of current and future human resources requirements, while generating appropriate employment opportunities for current students and graduates.
- Persuades employers to hire students from the CfB by using a wide range of business skills, including client relationship management, problem-solving, negotiation and sales closing approaches.
- Accurately documents information obtained from all employer communications in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database (e.g., Salesforce or ORBIS); updates information in the CRM database for any required changes (e.g., new contacts, closures, acquisitions, etc.).
- Collects information regarding skills deficiencies of Field Education students; shares curriculum recommendations with relevant CfB School Chair, Program Coordinator, Program Advisory Committee, CfB Director, Dean of the CfB, Manager of Field Education, etc.
- Conducts employer follow-up to provide further information regarding Field Education.
- Assists the Centre for Business with new field education program/curriculum development by gathering discipline-specific labour market information, providing market analysis and collating employer/market feedback regarding the need for new programs and skills.
- Prepares reports for the Manager on job development activity, prospect status and labour market trends.
- Liaises with Co-Op Education Officers regarding employer relationships and participates in case management meetings.
- Assists with special events in support of the Field Education office and/or the Center for Business such as job fairs, open houses, community events, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
What qualifications do you need for this role?
- Three-year degree or diploma in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Human Resource Management (recruitment/selection or talent management focus desirable), or a Liberal Arts degree with a focus on Psychology or Communications.
- Minimum five years’ experience in experience in sales, business development, or job development (preferably as a representative of a post-secondary institution) marketing the students and programs to the business, non-profit, association and government sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct labour market analysis, develop/implement marketing, and sales strategies, execute on the plan and follow up as required to close business.
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office Suite), experience with contact management or CRM databases.
- Experience using Orbis software is an asset.
- Experience working in a postsecondary experiential learning office is an asset.
- Proven track record of success in soliciting potential employers through various business development and networking strategies.
- Demonstrated record of meeting and exceeding weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity and performance targets.
- Excellent research skills to identify target markets, track labour market trends and utilize this data to anticipate future work term needs.
- Must have excellent communication, presentation, selling and negotiation skills to succeed in securing field education opportunities (including co-op positions) for hundreds of students within a very competitive job market.
- Excellent research skills to identify the target markets and to follow the labour market trends in the industry and to demonstrate the ability to use labour market statistics for anticipating future work terms.
- Demonstrates ability to oversee large case load while balancing other duties with nonnegotiable deadlines and conflicting priorities; must have attention to detail.
