Description:

The Media Ecosystem Observatory (MEO) is hiring a part-time Research Assistant at this exciting period of growth for the organization. The selected candidate will support the Director, Communications in the development of the Year One Symposium hosted in Montreal this fall. The nature of this work will include conducting research and reporting on possible venues, guests, speakers, and partners, communications in the lead up to and during the event, and general event planning tasks as required.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in the social sciences or related field

  • Proven interest in MEO’s area of work, including in topics such as digital activism, politics of digital media, cybersecurity, online political participation, misinformation and disinformation, digital policy, and the democratic and civic implications of digital life

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including writing and research skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and proficient time management skills

  • Demonstrated reliability and ability to meet tight deadlines consistently

  • Must be based in Montreal as of August

  • Fluency in English is required


Assets

  • French language ability is a strong asset

  • Experience working in policy or politics
