Engineering Contract Administrator

 

Description:

The Infrastructure Department is comprised of five Branches, including three Design and Construction Branches, the Wastewater Operations Branch, and the Water Operations Branch. Key responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of the City’s environmental infrastructure and systems including water supply, treatment, and distribution; wastewater collection and treatment; and the design and construction of the City's infrastructure including treatment plants, pump stations, roads, sewers, watermains, sidewalks, stormwater management ponds, water towers and reservoirs, etc.

Under the general guidance and direction of the Engineering Project Manager, the Engineering Contract Administrator position is responsible for undertaking, directing and administering construction contracts for capital projects related to the City's roads, sidewalks, and bridges; sanitary sewerage; storm sewerage; storm water management; drainage; water and wastewater treatment, pumping station, water supply, storage and distribution; parking; traffic signals; and infrastructure rehabilitation within the Vertical Infrastructure, Developer and Special Projects and Linear Infrastructure Sections of the Infrastructure Branch.


Additionally, this position assists the Engineering Project Manager during the detailed design of Capital projects provides technical comments on the design and preparation of contract documents. Additionally, this position assists in the preparation and review of budgets, risk register's, communications plans and construction schedules. Overall, this position plays an integral role in managing assigned capital projects to ensure projects are delivered on scope, on schedule and within budget in accordance with City standards, and to enable the City of Barrie to continue to deliver the services that it provides.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)

  • Three (3) year College Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline
  • Eligibility for and willingness to obtain Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) Designation from the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT)

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities, including demonstrated leadership/supervisory experience
