Engineering Co-op Student

 

Description:

As an Engineering Co-op Student, you will support the Engineering team with a variety of projects, contribute as part of our team, work alongside and learn from experienced and talented professionals. This position reports to the Senior Manager, Engineering and is an on-site position at 1340 Brant Street, Burlington.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support the design of overhead and underground residential service installations by applying Burlington Hydro standards, engineering principles, and utilizing design tools including GIS, AutoCAD, iXp, JOMAR, and SPIDACalc
  • Provide field verification support for the Geographic Information System (GIS) team, ensuring data accuracy
  • Contribute to Engineering department projects by performing calculations, preparing job packages, and assisting with design tasks as needed
  • Participate in on-site field checks and support the maintenance of third-party transfer lists
  • Assist in scanning documents and completing job closure procedures to ensure accurate project records
  • Aid in updating procedural guides to align with current standards and practices
  • All other duties as assigned

 

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited co-op program, working towards a diploma in an Engineering program; Electrical Engineering Technology program is preferred
  • Familiarity with industry standards is an asset
  • Completion of courses in AutoCAD is highly desirable
  • Possess a valid ‘G’ Ontario Driver’s License in good standing
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Access, Excel, etc.)
