Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor of Engineering program. (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical & Computer, Industrial, Naval Architecture, Engineering Mathematics);
  • Diploma of Engineering or equivalent experience;
  • Proficient using MS Office suite;
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written;
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Understanding of ship construction;
  • Experience working in design, production, and test within a ship construction program;
  • Experience in engineering for Naval platforms;
  • General Project Management experience.

 

 

 

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the CS Integrated Product Team and governance structure to assist with the coordination and management of stakeholder interests, governing standards, and CSC requirements applicable to CSC Design;
  • Ensure that the physical and functional interfaces of the CS are identified, defined, and approved via Interface Control Documentation;
  • Develop and evaluate documentation products related to the design, integration, and test of CS;
  • Perform engineering studies and create reports in assigned technical areas;
  • Provide support to evaluate engineering change to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to design, integration, test, and acceptance activities are understood and recorded;
  • Support engineering subject matter experts in analysis of assigned technical areas and perform engineering work in accordance with governing policies, procedures, standards, and regulations;
  • Liaise with subject matter experts for systems and operations that impact CS system design to ensure compatibility, interoperability, personnel safety, and restrictions on use;
  • Support the development of plans, procedures, and processes in support of program requirements;
  • Support the coordination of scheduling, planning, and conduct CS related activities to ensure that related program milestones are met;
  • Collect data to produce accurate status reports on assigned activities to the CS management;
  • Coordinate CS design reviews with key stakeholders to ensure reviews are organized, supporting objective quality evidence has been distributed to all stakeholders, and review actions, decisions, and risks are clearly recorded;
  • Develop knowledge of the Combat System physical and functional architecture and the operational employment of Combat Systems and their roles to ensure valid solutions for the RCN;
  • Support evaluation of engineering changes to ensure that impacts, risks, and issues related to design and associated integration, test, and acceptance activities are understood and recorded;
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal (Shipyard Production, CSC Program personnel) and external stakeholders (subcontractors and Canadian government staff);
  • Support a culture of teamwork, pro-activeness, and enthusiasm within the CSC Engineering Team, and be a role model for professional behavior.
