The Role

Technical resources who play a leadership role in guiding and organizing the work of others, scheduling work, identifying problems and challenges with delivery or quality, and resolving (or elevating) as required. The Team Leader provides coaching to their team to ensure performance and quality objectives are met, motivates from a peer-to-peer perspective, and deals with day to day employee needs.

Specifically, the Team Lead- Education and Training will support and offer guidance program teams and staff on best practices in serving Ontario Métis youth and Métis community families. The incumbents must be strong empathetic advocates to facilitate planning and help coordinate resource support for children and youth so they may reach their full potential and overcome barriers within education settings. The incumbents should show leadership through exemplary practices in client file management, as well as by identifying opportunities for improvements and greater efficiencies forward.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assists with the hiring and training of team members
  • Oversees the daily workflow; oversees scheduling and assignments of the assigned team.
  • Supports the creation of performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Ensures that the necessary equipment is available and in working order to complete assignments.
  • Keeps team members informed about rules, regulations, policies, and objectives.
  • Maintains detailed and accurate work records.
  • Collaborates with the team to identify ways to improve department effectiveness; implements viable ideas.
  • Supports the resolution of conflicts that arise among team members and/or other employees.
  • Other reasonable duties as may be assigned

Branch Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for the program and coordination of all referrals – Through a validated needs assessment, the team lead is accountable to triage files in collaboration with Program supervision and management to ensure appropriate assignment of files, along with appropriate resources and contracted services;
  • Review progress of a file throughout the duration of involvement with the program – constant dialogue with staff on progress, oversight of case files to ensure notes and all paperwork per file have been maintained and are up to date;
  • Coordinate with program supervision and management regarding efficient and effective assignment of resources per client;
  • Be available to MNO’s staff to consult and support on services and resources available for their client(s);
  • Work directly with MNO’s Education and Training staff to provide support in the provision of services and support. This also includes hosting meetings or conferences to ensure that client cases remain on target;
  • Utilization of the MNO’s data bases to ensure program efficiencies and effectiveness – accountable to maintain data base(s) and ensure staff are appropriately using this for purpose of proper file management and overall program evaluation;
  • Actively and independently keep up-to-date on education services available across the Province for adults, children, youth and families;
  • When directed, represent the MNO at community events;
  • Develop new collaborations and partnerships as directed;
  • Implement annual project work plans and activity reports.
