Education And Communications Coordinator

 

Description:

This position provides guidance and support for staff whose roles contribute to ensuring Alberta maintains environmentally sustainable natural resource management. This is in the fulfillment of the Department responsibilities as defined through provincial legislation.

Qualifications

Education:

University graduation in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Assets:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent technical writing skills and an ability to communicate complex legislation and procedures into plain language for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to respond to changing priorities and timelines, as well as handle multiples tasks.
  • Knowledge of the regulatory assurance program within Environment and Protected Areas.
  • Technical knowledge of approval processes under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act, Water Act and the Public Lands Act and their accompanying regulations.
  • An understanding of the department’s role, the process of policy formulation, legislative development, planning, and accountability.
  • Knowledge of various development types in Alberta and an understanding, on a provincial scale, the impact of industrial activity including environmental quality, economic growth, and social and cultural well-being.
  • Strong knowledge of the various phases of the regulatory requirements, processes and lifecycle requirements for regulated activities.
  • Experience and/or training in change management.
