Early Learning Documentation Specialist

As a subject matter expert, the Early Learning Documentation Specialist will be responsible for: Working with the Managers and Supervisors of ELCC to develop visual and print documentation that emphasizes grounded Métis-led early learning pedagogy, that is developmentally appropriate and upholds standards of practice.

The Early Learning Documentation Specialist will be responsible for developing resources, presentations, and extensions to ELCC documentation that connect to inquiry-based learning and utilize foundational early learning documents.

The documentation specialist will work with ELCC Programs & Services teams to provide documentation expertise for projects and programs. The specialist will attend meetings as needed, to plan, review and discuss proposed documentation projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary graduate of visual arts, web/print design, or media studies, or applicable experience.
  • Ability to develop work plans and timelines independently.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Time priority management to guide program delivery and resource development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills demonstrated to motivate and work effectively with others.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality documentation in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Works well under pressure and requires minimal supervision.
  • Experience with Adobe Suite and other visual design programs.
  • Previous experience with working publishing and working with print companies.
  • Web design experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years working with multimedia platforms.
  • 3-5 years experience with:
    • Photography
    • Graphic design
    • Web design
    • Multimedia editing
  • Ability to oversee a project from concept to the finished product
  • Develop creative ideas and concepts to meet MNO ELCC objectives.
  • Strong understanding of media software for editing and modification i.e. Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong understanding of multimedia for print materials.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of historical, cultural, and contemporary Metis perspectives.
  • Ability to work within planned deliverables and timelines.
  • Strong working knowledge of foundational ELCC documents which include:

  • ELECT
  • Ontario Kindergarten Program Document
  • Indigenous Early Learning Framework
  • Think, Feel, Act in the Early Years
  • Strong multimedia skills for different target audiences.
  • Creativity and ambition with and desire to learn to develop knowledge and skills.
  • Insuring consistency in style, tone, messaging, and quality to enhance projects and branding.
  • Experience in the organization of documentation materials for archive and future resource development.
  • Experience in designing and developing early learning print resources.
  • Experience/understanding in copyright and ISBN processes.
  • Experience in scanning, designing and formatting resources for print.
  • Ability to adapt print materials to other multimedia formats.
  • Manage multiple projects in various stages of production concurrently
