Logic Executive Search & Workplace Solutions is proud to partner with the Municipality of Lakeshore in the recruitment of a Division Leader – Community Planning located in Lakeshore, Ontario. This role reports directly to the Corporate Leader – Growth & Sustainability and is responsible for leading and managing the land-use planning division, as well as having direct oversight of long-range planning and development approval initiatives.
What You’ll Be Responsible For:
- Supervising and directing the Community Planning Division including training and development and performance and disciplinary reviews in line with Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Establishing priorities and work programs for the Planning and GIS Units and ensuring that professional services are meeting recommended guidelines and deadlines.
- Formulating and revising new and existing policies and providing professional recommendations regarding administrative fee structures, application forms, procedures, and other documentation that supports the delivery of the Municipality’s services.
- Preparing and administering the annual Division budget and working in conjunction with the Finance team to monitor financial variances.
- Managing the Planning and GIS Units’ budgetary and physical resources to ensure alignment with Lakeshores’ organizational and strategic priorities.
- Establish and maintain good customer service for, and effective working relationships with, developers, investors, and relevant agencies, to direct and support the delivery of planning and building approvals.
- Communicating directly with government agencies, local municipalities, neighbouring organizations, and the community on developmental projects.
- Providing direction and professional planning opinions to Lakeshore Council, the Committee of Adjustment, the Heritage advisory Committee, the Ontario Land Tribunal, and other authorities involved in developmental control and policy planning functions.
- Identifying and assisting the professional needs of the Planning and GIS Units’ staff including recruitment, training and development, objective setting, vacation scheduling, and more.
